PEP Named 2013 Women-Owned Small Business of the Year

June 2014:

Performance Excellence Partners has been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as the recipient for the agency’s fiscal year (FY) 2013 Women-Owned Small Business of the Year Award. “We are pleased and honored to receive this prestigious recognition from the DOE for our part in helping the agency reach its goals and achieve positive outcomes,” said Rachel E. Ramirez, PEP’s founder, President and CEO. “We have a long-standing relationship with the DOE, who was one of the first Federal agencies to offer PEP the opportunity to provide our services.”

“Small businesses generate innovation and technical solutions that contribute towards the fulfilment of our national security and energy missions,” says John Hale III, Director of the DOE’s Office of Small and Disadvantages Business Utilization. “This award recognizes the efforts and commitment of DOE’s small business advocates who take every opportunity to utilize small business concerns to meets its requirements. I congratulate Performance Excellence Partners for being selected as DOE’s FY 2013 Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year award recipient.”

PEP credits much of its success to the DOE’s Mentor-Protégé program, which connected the small business to mentorship of guidance of large companies such as IBM. PEP is now returning the favor by mentoring other emerging women- and minority-owned small businesses.

“It’s vitally important for women-owned and minority-own small businesses to have access to the support, resources and mentorship they need to open doors and build a strong foundation for success,” explains Ramirez. “This award from the DOE is a reflection of the support the agency extends to small business owners who have the capabilities to provide a high level of service and expertise, but who don’t always have access to opportunities.”
